Surprises!

Auntie Mudd (Marie Lund) stopped by yesterday on her way to a meeting at the district office, Mudd is the literacy coordinator (I think) for Lincoln and Canyon Elementary schools in the south end of the valley. She is one of my favorite people in the world and Grace adores her! And she thinks she tastes great.
Tastes great?! What do I mean by that?
Last time Mudd stopped by she went to pick Grace up and Grace bit her and took a chunk of skin with her... okay it wasn't a chunk but she broke the skin! There was no biting yesterday just good happy fun.

A Beautiful Barefoot Day

Today was a beautiful day so we went to the park. Grace opted to go barefoot I recall my mother saying something about she should go barefoot as often as possible. So she went barefoot wherever she could.

She lead Daddy all over the park and of course he followed willingly.

So did I...

When all was said and done Grace was pretty beat. But she had fun!
So did we.

Epiphanies!

I have been working in my pathetic little garden a lot the last few weeks hoping and praying that something will pop up and or survive. My turnips and radishes have BOTH popped up but my carrots remain yet to be seen. I thought carrots were like weeds they were supposed to grown anywhere? I also planted, eggplant, squish (zucchini), tomatoes, peppers, and a watermelon. (These were all starts, either that I had started or bought.)

Anyway the garden is in fact growing and I do tend to get all muddy and gross, as does Grace because she likes to "help" me water the plants. When not in the garden Grace and I wander around the neighborhood, generally in our sandals sometimes, sans shoes. Since Grace is still getting used to the whole concept of walking she prefers to do it barefoot and I tend to agree. I am so grateful that the warmer temperatures have returned and we can wander around without our shoes again. Grace LOVES walking around barefoot but it is definitally time for both of us to get a pedicure.

However the garden is not what I set out to write about what I meant to write about was how my bathtub seems to be getting grungier by the day. I have spent many a hours on my hands and knees with my every faithful green scrubby and or magic eraser to help get rid of the grunge. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the bathtub was getting so dirty so fast. Then it occurred to me whilst hosing Grace down from a romp in the garden. Our dirty feet! I know it does not seem like a major discovery but as I said at the begining its been a long week and figuring out what was making the bathtub so dirty has made me so happy!

Alas!

I have been feeling that this blog is completely pointless because I RARELY get comments and due to the lack of comments I feel like no reads or cares and I mentioned this to my friend Mudd and she said but look at how good you are at journaling .. he he he. not quite but I'll take it. That was just the encouragement I needed. :) I love Mudd!

Sunday Morning Waffles

Waffles

Is there really any better way to start your Sunday than with fresh hot off the iron big fat waffles? - Besides not having to make them or clean them up yourself? - I didn't think so! I have had this recipe since I got my waffle maker, it came with it and then I dropped it behind my refridgerator and was unable to retrieve it. While trolling various recipe websites today I found it! I was so excited that I made them. Nate and I used to make these every Sunday. I think we may have to start doing that again.

  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 7 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Preheat the waffle iron. Sift the dry indredients into a medium sized bowl. Separate the eggs, putting the egg whites in smaller bowl. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff.Add the egg yolks, oil and milk all at one time to the dry indredients.

Beat until there are no lumps in the batter. Fold the egg whites into the other batter using a spatula or other flat utinsel. Put a full 1/2 cup of batter in your waffle iron to make a 9-inch round waffle.

Mother's Day

Grace was in bed around ten last night and when I was still up at a quarter to twelve I did something I can't remember doing for a long while, an indulgence so great I'm afraid to even admit it...I ran a bath and snatched a book from my shelf I had been meaning to get to.
http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/24560000/24566905.JPG
Now this is a book my dear sister told me to read. One she had picked up at an airport book store whilst on a quick jaunt to Jamaica, yes she has VERY hard life can't you tell.
I did not know what to expect and the back description was pretty vauge -which now a days was unexpected, most books tell you everything in the fly leaf and you don't even have to bother reading them- quite honestly I expected to read a chapter or two and be bored with it. I really only wanted something to browse while I was in the tub but because I am my mothers daughter after the first few pages I couldn't put it down. Fast forward to three thirty in the AM I finally finished the book and was slightly embarrassed to know that my dear little sister had read it!! It was entertaining to say the least and if anyone is looking for an entertaining a trashy romance novel let me know.

Since I stayed up WAY too late Nate got up and took care
(meaning fed and entertained)
Grace until she got bored with him and decided she wanted Mom.
I don't know why but she seems to like me Go FIGURE :-)
Nate took Grace out yesterday and I painted my nails while they plotted.
I got some beautiful roses from Nate
a
Hilarious Card from Grace.
it has a picture of a little girl wearing underwear on her head
and
inside it says who says mommy underwear isn't fashionable?
I LOVE IT!
-Grace loves to put things on her head my underwear being a favorite accessory.-
I had also mentioned to Grace that what I REALLY wanted for Mother's Day
was the :
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8j3FntT0Ky15jQ2WVxi5ljEuae2ezzp9bSJ0p8bV8HveWhGTUdAdRTQFNR_Ru2jA0Ai8fEHJI0kgz23PHb6tnigdAL-nG97_on0JyoR_WBLmNcOAfwnsSbCq80Fxr_smI-KHJcBN5DGTw/s320/Worldwide_Ward_Cookbk.jpg

and wouldn't you know she was amazing and got me just that!
I've been pouring over the pages ALL morning.
Nate even made me french toast out of the book...
Well I told him it sounded good he looked at it read the recipe
then made his own.
It was AMAZING!

We all took a nap around noon and in fact they are still sleeping I got up and decided to write a blog before heading out to Mom's house for dinner.
Shiskabobs! Woot Woot!

Something in the Air?

I don't know about you but it seems to me that EVERYONE is on edge and incredibly grouchy lately. I can't do ANYTHING right by Grace she seems to be constantly on the brink of a tantrum which to be honest is really getting old fast.

My boss, who is one of the happiest, silver-lining type people I have ever met that always has a smile on his face has even been affected by whatever this dark cloud of grumpiness that has settled over the valley or maybe even the earth. I don't get it! Anyone have any ideas? I am not having fun being the HAPPY one at work... that's a scary thought don't you think?
